Who can apply for a library card?
Any person living in Farnhamville, Calhoun County, or the state of Iowa can apply for a library card.
You can apply for a family card that includes all your family members with one number or individual cards for each family member.
How do I apply for a library card?
We will need your name, address, and phone number.
You will receive a blue library card.
You are responsible for any materials checked out on your library card.
If you lose your library card, immediately inform the library. We will cancel your card and when you come into the library the next time a new card will be issued to you.
How do I use my library card?
- You will need your library card or know your library card number to check out any materials from the library.
- With your card you may check out books, audio books, magazines, and movies.
How long may I check out materials from the library?
Books and audio books may be checked out for two weeks.
Movies and magazines may be checked out for one week.
May I renew materials?
Materials may be renewed unless they are reserved for another patron.
Materials are renewed for the same period as above.
You may renew items over the phone by giving me your name and the name or names of the materials you wish to renew.
How do I return library materials?
Library materials may be returned during library hours to the librarian.
Library materials may be returned outside of library hours in the book return located on the west side of the front library door.
If my materials are overdue, do I need to pay a fine?
Fines are not collected.
However, if the materials are more than three weeks overdue, the librarian will be contacting you to return your materials.
How do I request or reserve an item?
Call or in person request the item you want.
If the item is checked out, the librarian will put you on a reserve list.
If the item is in the library you may check it out at that time.
Any reserved or requested materials will be held for the patron for one week.
