Board of Trustee's Meeting

September 9, 2013

Call to Order:

Roll Call: Jason, Cheryl, Karilyn, Lori, and Kris were present

Secretary's Report: 

     Read and Approved:

Treasurer's Report:

      Checking: $573.97             Enrich Iowa: $5.00

       CD: $4, 500.42                   Money Market: $2,547.52


Librarian's Report:

  • Kris completed and sent the final evaluation for the children's furniture to the Calhoun County Community Foundation.
  • Flu Shots are scheduled for September 30th from 1:00 - 2:00.
  • Kris will be attending a webinar on teen books at the end of September to get ideas for Teen Read Week in October.  
  • Early in October Kris will go to the elementary school to talk to the students about the October Halloween activities at the library.
  • There will be a Halloween Coloring contest from October 1 to October 14th.
  • There will be a craft day for kids to make ghosts and "ghost ooze" on October 14th from 5:00 to 6:00.
  • The Ghost Hunter presentation is planned for Sunday, October 20th at 4:00.  It will be at the Coop Community Room.  This will likely take 1 1/2 hours.
  • The Halloween Party is scheduled for October 28th from 5:30 to 7:00.  Trick or Treat night is the 31st.

Committee Reports:

       Building: Jason: They cut the magnesium rods so we have no smell now.

       Goals/Planning: Lori and Kris will start working on a Disaster Policy for the library. 

Old  Business:

     By-laws say the evaluations will be done in January.

     Old Settler's Day:  Several people have said they like the straws.

New Business:

     Calhoun County Community Foundation would like a permanent display.

     We had a power serge and the computer reacted.,  Kris called the company in Fort Dodge.

     Kris discussed putting in a monthly circulation report at the city council meetin or in the quarterly newsletter.
