Board of Trustee's Meeting

May 10, 2013

Call to Order:

Roll Call: Jason, Cheryl, Karilyn and Kris were present

Secretary's Report:

Librarian's Report:

  • We received our county budget for the fiscal year 2013-2014.  We will receive $13,987.44.
  • The "Spring into Books" program concluded with 17 children and 22 adults participating.
  • Our Book Sale netted $40.00.
  • Kris attended the Kids First Conference on April 30.  There were two keynote speakers and breakout sessions all day that she attended.,  Kris will receive 5 credits for this conference.   Kris won a children's biography called Brave Girl.
  • The Summer Reading Program planning is progressing.  Karen Hansen, the Webster County Naturalist will be coming to the library in late June to put on a program about ants and other digging animals.  Kris is also planning another program in June that Ersel will help her with that involves using balloons to make a terrarium for each child.  Kris is also planning a program around dinosaurs for July.  To go with the theme Dig into Reading, children will have pails hanging from the ceiling.  Stickers will be added for the books they read.  Small prizes will be given for checking out books this summer.  A large prize for reaching their goal will be given at the end of the program.
  • We have to fill out the information to keep getting the digital book program by May 15th.  It will amount to about $333.39.  It does not have to be paid until July.
  • Kris plans to order the children's furniture in early June.

Committee Reports:

     Building: Drained the hot water tank because it was smelling.

Old  Business:

     WILBOR:  Motion was made to pay $333.39 for the digital book service.  Made by Karilyn and seconded by Cheryl.

     Kris will be ordering the children's furniture now.

New Business:

     Kris will be applying for a grant through Web. Cal. - INS Charity grant.,  She will fill out the paperwork and hand it in.

     Welcome Bag - Kris will write a letter from the library to go into each bag along with a pen and bookmark.
